LA Times Festival of Books - With Books That Make You
The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is a huge annual event which draws booklovers, industry professionals, and an array of people from around the world. How big? They say they’re the “largest book festival in the northern hemisphere” with over 150,000 booklovers in attendance. And now you can be part of the fun.

This opportunity includes:
- Inclusion in digital marketing and promotional activities on Books That Make You and Black Château social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok, with a combined following of over 50,000.
- Inclusion in a press release distributed to over 3,000 media contacts via email and through a wire service at the “corporate” level for worldwide online coverage (e.g., typically placed on AP News with a potential reach of 35 million unique monthly visitors).
- Onsite book display and sales managed on your behalf during the event.
- Book sales will be conducted through consignment. Funds will be distributed after the event, and authors typically average 4 to 6 sales. The event is primarily about exposure and providing an enjoyable experience. To make things easier for you, we handle all sales, including obtaining the necessary seller’s permit, so you don’t have to worry about the logistics.
- Photos taken during the event are posted on social media and shared with all participants after the event.
- Video and social media posts of highlights featured on Books That Make You social media after the event.
- Authors are invited to participate in a complimentary two-hour in-booth book signing on either Saturday or Sunday. (Date and time requests made at checkout.)
We hope you can be there in person, but if not, no worries, we can display and promote your book in the booth without you attending.

Signing times are in two-hour blocks (Pacific Time):
Saturday: | 10am – 12pm | 12pm – 2pm | 2 pm – 4pm | 4pm – 6pm |
Sunday: | 10am – 12pm | 12pm – 2pm | 2 pm – 4pm |
If you are interested in a complementary in-booth signing, please select your time slot at checkout or select “No in-person signing” if you are not going to be there in-person.
Books:
Books need to be shipped to Los Angeles in advance of the event and need to be received by April 15 unless you are bringing them to the event. Shipping address and instructions will be provided in the LATFoB Info Sheet.
Book Price:
We will need your book price, and quantity of inventory, by April 15 so we can add your title to our POS system before the event. Books need to be priced in whole dollar amounts as we do not have coins on hand for change. EX: $14 not $13.99
Sales:
Books are sold on a consignment basis, with a 15/85 split (Books That Make You / Black Chateau receives the 15% to cover fees). All sales are processed by Books That Make You / Black Chateau using our sales permit. Then paid out via Zelle, PayPal, or Check to you after the event.
Info Sheet:
The LATFoB Info Sheet will be updated with the booth number and final details and sent to all participating authors before the event.
